A North Lakes teenager has been charged following a traffic crash involving seven vehicles on the Bruce Highway at Burpengary on Wednesday morning.
Police allege a stolen Alfa Romeo was abandoned in the right southbound lane of the highway near the Burpengary weighbridge just before 4am, a ute travelling in the right hand lane then collided with it, pushing it into the middle lane, causing five other cars to also crash.
Amazingly, only two drivers suffered minor injuries in the pile up, but it caused mass delays for commuters as a large section had to be closed off for nearly three hours so emergency road repairs could be performed.
It is further alleged the abandoned vehicle was stolen from a residence in Jindalee on March 12 and involved in another burglary offence at a home in Elimbah on March 13.
The 15-year-oldboy has since been charged with one count each of burglary, receiving tainted property and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. Investigations are continuing.
