Three Gold Coast suburbs are among the worst in Queensland when it comes to car thefts.
Kirwin in Townsville took out the title of Car Theft Capital of the state, according to RACQ claims data, while Southport came in second place and Burleigh Heads third.
Further down the list Ormeau placed at number 9 and Beenleigh 10.
Spokesperson Renee Smith said the figures also show white or silver Holden Commodores were the most frequently stolen cars across the state.
"So while all vehicle owners could be careful with security, Holden Commodore owners, it appears, should be extra vigilant," she said.
Ms Smith also had these tips to prevent our vehicles from being targeted:
"Make sure your car is locked, park in well lit areas where you can and make sure you're not leaving valuables in clear sight".
