Triple M Grill Team's Matty Johns believes the NRL have dropped the ball by not taking the Grand Final to Brisbane when both ANZ and Allianz Stadiums will be out of action.
"I honestly believe we should've taken it to Suncorp Stadium," Matty said.
According to reports in The Daily Telegraph, the 2020 showpiece event will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, but the configuration of the ground doesn't suit rugby league.
"When you actually go there (to the SCG) now and watch a game it's pretty dysfunctional," Matty said.
"I think it's a missed opportunity - for mine - for what Queensland has given the game in the last 20 odd 30 years, for what they've given the NRL, I think it's a bit of a shame we aren't taking it there."
In a statement to Triple M, the NRL did confirm the SCG will likely host the 2020 Grand Final, however, certain timelines with the new stadia need to be met.
"The NRL has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding with the NSW Government pledging to keep the Grand Final in Sydney as long as the timeline for construction of the new stadia is met," an NRL spokesperson said.
