If you weren’t lucky enough to score tickets to the Supercars this week, there’s still plenty of venues to watch and enjoy the experience of one of the biggest events to ever come to Newcastle and the Hunter!
Our top picks for watching the Supercars without being there are…
The Kent Hotel…with all the road closures and traffic the Kent is perfect to leave the car at home and walk down to Beaumont Street to watch the race. Plus they have some cool bands booked for Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. In the Lambton area of Newcastle, the Duke of Wellington is our choice. Leave the car at home and take advantage of the courtesy bus. The Beach Hotel at Merewether has a great mix of live entertainment planned, so drop in for lunch and stay for the race before catching a live band.
In Maitland and Rutherford Rutherford Hotel. Watch the race from the comfort of bistro or bar. Emily Smith is playing on Saturday night and there’s free pool all day Sunday. Sill in Rutherford take the family to Club Maitland City
If you are in Raymond Terrace, it’s the Lakeside Tavern for all the Supercar action. There’s a reason it is known as being #1 for sport in Raymond Terrace. You won’t miss a moment.
One of the best venues in the coalfields is going to be Peddens Hotel at Cessnock. There’s plenty of room and a great kids area. We’d recommend popping into The Australia Hotel for a relaxing afternoon watching the race on one of the big screens.
If you are looking to get close to the city or working around Honeysuckle the best venue to catch up on all the action will be Honeysuckle Hotel. Simply catch the train to the new City Interchange and walk down to watch all the action on the big screen.
It doesn't matter where you experience one of the biggest events to ever come to Newcastle and the Hunter, it is going down in our history!
