Sarina Barbeque Rules - Bob Wood Cultural Hall (Saturday)

Are you great with a grill, terrific with tongs, a fiend with a flipper? If “yes” is the answer, Sarina Neighbourhood Centre wants you for the first ever Sarina Barbecue Rules competition. The Connecting Community Challenge will pit teams of apron-wearing culinary conquerors against each other during a free family event on the afternoon of Saturday, October 6. There is a limit of 24 teams of up to three people and entries close when the teams are full. Barbecues are provided. This will be a community event held at the Sarina Cultural Hall for the whole family, with entertainment, food, children’s activities and the barbecue challenge.

Mackay Inflatable Boat Race - Eimeo Beach (Sunday)
The Inaugural Mackay Inflatable Boat Race will be held at the spectacular Eimeo Beach. It will be full of fun and excitement for everyone, attendees dress in fancy dress, armed with any type of inflatable raft, from pool ponies to caterpillars, and paddle a short course.
There will be activities suitable for all ages! The original event was created by Denver Beven from Manly. All money raised goes to Tour de Cure & the Eimeo SLSC.
Kinchant Dam Workshop - Kinchant Dam (Saturday)

If you like fishing at Kinchant Dam and want to improve your chances of hooking your next big catch, come along and help us create some more fish attracting structures this weekend! All tools and materials will be provided. Meet at the Botanic Gardens compound, located immediately west, across the lagoon from the main Botanic Gardens visitors centre on Crowleys Road.

Eco Barge Community Clean-Up - Airlie Beach (Saturday)

Keep Airlie Beach Beautiful! Tell your friends and family and come along to do your bit to keep our iconic town pristine, Eco Barge will be providing a free BBQ lunch for all those who participate. 10:00am - Meet at Shingley Beach, by the BBQs. 10:15am - CLEAN-UP
12:00pm - Free BBQ Lunch. There will also be some giveaways and a meat tray to be won thanks to Master Butchers Whitsunday. Please ensure you wear sun-smart clothes and enclosed shoes, all clean-up equipment will be provided.

Slade Point Triple Treat Sunrise Walk - Lamberts Beach (Sunday)

This free community friendly walk will be led by Councillor Fran Mann and members of the Slade Point Neighbourhood Watch. This walk will take you through the best kept secret Slade Point has to offer. It requires short and steady steep climbs through scenic single tracks, magnificent ocean views, and of course the triple treat is sunrise over 3 different lookouts, 3 different beaches, over 3 kilometers. The walk will finish at the Lambert’s Beach playground where the community meet for the Brekky by the beach. It’s a gold coin donation to Slade Point Neighbourhood Watch Community Group and everyone is welcome. Everyone who can walk and climb steep hills for a short distance is welcome to join. Several short talks will occur during this leisurely 45 minutes friendly walk sharing a little bit of history, and natures gift our region has to offer.

MM Electrical Derby Day - Mackay Turf Club (Saturday)

The NQ Derby is an amazing spring racing day supporting the racing carnival in Sydney and Melbourne. Traditional black and white attire, a variety of ticket options available including event centre dining, fiesta fascinator marquee, winning post, trackside bar and private marquees for hire. With free MJ Photobooth so you can upload instantly to social media, Fashions on the Field with amazing prizes, live DJ throughout the day to keep you entertained, Luke Geiger duo entertaining you after the last race and free buses to the after party at MOJOs, its a day not to be missed!

Fast Karts - Palmyra (all weekend)

For anyone interested in Karting, this is the easiest way to get a taste for it. We'll have some club members practicing over this weekend so that Hire Kart competitors can see what the race karts are capable of. We hope after a taste of our sport, you'll invest in your own kart and come racing with us!

Twilight Saturday - Andergrove Lakes (Saturday)

It’s warming up and the sun is setting later so we can fit in an extra TWILIGHT SESSION  starting this Saturday onwards we will have sessions starting at 3pm, 4pm and 5pm all spring and summer! Aqua Park Twilight Sessions $20 per person, starting at 3pm, 4pm + 5pm for 50 minutes. Book tickets online to avoid missing out and arrive at the park at 30 minutes prior. Don’t forget if it’s your first time to the new park, you need to fill out the Online Participation Agreement.

Ice Skating - Caneland Central (all weekend)

The Ice Rink is back for the School Holidays at Caneland Central. Strap those skates on and glide across the ice these School Holidays. Monday to Saturday session times are: 9:30am, 11am, 12:30pm, 3:30pm and 5pm with a 7pm session available on Friday and Saturday nights. Sunday sessions are: 11am, 12:30pm and 3:30pm.

Mackay Leisure Centre - Paget (all weekend)

Bowling- 2nd Games $4 for everyone. Regular prices for one game. Skating- $10 Entry and Free hire. School holiday sessions Sunday-Friday 11am-3pm, Sat 10am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-4pm. Friday Nights ($5) 7.30pm-10pm
